Amy Bowers, M.A., Licensed Professional Counselor
Amy Bowers is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University. She is an experienced therapist providing group and individual services for children and adolescents encountering the effects of trauma, abuse, depression, divorce and grief. She has a heart for education and has facilitated workshops for parents, children and school faculty on the topics of healthy boundaries and abuse safety. In addition to working with children and families, Amy also enjoys working with couples and young women in times of adjustment and transition. She has also spent time within the university setting and has provided educational services and academic counseling to students overcoming financial and physical barriers. Amy is experienced working with the Oklahoma legal system, Department of Human Services, foster families and is a certified Home Study Provider.
Amy enjoys sharing her life with her husband, Bret. Amy has called the Oklahoma City metro area home for the past 5 years.
Cynthia Chioco, Psy.D., Licensed Psychologist
Cynthia graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and went on to earn her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Baylor University. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA). Although Cynthia has over 20 years of experience counseling people ages 4 to 84 in a variety of settings, her God-given passion is for children, adolescents and their families. She received specialized training during her internship and residency at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children, Virginia Commonwealth University-Medical Colllege of Virginia where she worked with children and families in inpatient, residential, partial hospital and outpatient settings. Cynthia is a licensed psychologist in Oklahoma, Virginia and South Carolina, but has been in private practice in Oklahoma for the past 12 years. She enjoys working individually, as well as facilitating groups with children who present with concerns related to ADHD, abuse, disruptive behavior, separation/divorce, anxiety and mood disturbances. Cynthia also has experience within the family court system as related to guardianship or custody issues, and serves as a court-appointed parenting coordinator. Adult work is limited primarily to relationship difficulties, parenting/disciplining issues, women who have experienced childhood trauma and compensation evaluations for Veterans. It is Cynthia's hope to assist clients of all ages in making meaningful and long-lasting change by utilizing sound psychological principles and spiritual direction within the context of an empathic and empowering therapeutic relationship. Cynthia and her husband, Tom have been married for 11 years and have one precious daughter.
Jeff Stewart, M.S., LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor
Jeff Stewart received his graduate training from Southern Nazarene University and has been working as a Licensed Professional Counselor for the past several years. An Oklahoma City native, Jeff received his Bachelor's degree in Religion from Baylor University and was hired by Crossings Community Church (formerly Belle Isle Community Church) as their Pastor of Student Ministries in 1988. Through his work with adolescence and their families, Jeff began realizing that the church had a tremendous opportunity to help people by integrating the highest quality clinical practices within the faith community. With this vision in mind, in 1998, he launched the Counseling Ministry and CARE Series at Crossings, and continues to provide organizational leadership to Crossings as the Executive Pastor. His years of Pastoral and Professional experience have prepared him to provide assistance through pre-marital and marital counseling. He has experience helping individuals find healing from traumatic circumstances and assisting families and individuals adjust to changing times and life issues. Jeff has been married for 19 years and has a daughter and two sons.
Stacey N. Dean, MAMFT, Licensed Professional Counselor
Stacey endeavors to provide a warm environment for clients to safely question and examine life transitions and significant relationships. Working from the belief that people intrinsically seek meaning and hope, Stacey collaborates with individuals, couples, families, and groups of all ages to access strength and support in their lives and within themselves to create and be present in the life they possess and desire for the future.
Stacey's experience includes extensive work with the family court system, adoption and foster care, infertility, gamete donation, sexual health and functioning, gender identity and sexuality, couples' counseling, divorce and blended family adjustment, parenting, career, personality, anger management, trauma, religious abuse, chronic illness and work toward assertiveness, personal growth and joy. Stacey is a licensure supervisor, certified mediator, court-appointed parenting coordinator and home study provider. She is passionately committed to helping people in conflict find practical and peaceful solutions and to provide research based treatment, supervision and training.
Stacey graduated from Oklahoma City University and SNU and has studied at Cambridge University. Her professional affiliations include the Oklahoma Counseling Association, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Association for Conflict Resolution and the American Psychological Association.
Shelley Madden, M.S., Licensed Professional Counselor
With overlapping careers in Professional Counseling and Senior Management for the Department of Defense, Shelley Madden brings over 20 years of experience in motivating, encouraging, and developing people and teams to achieve their goals. Shelley is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has earned a Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Business Administration Degree. She enjoys working with couples, blended families, and providing individual counseling to women in the areas of parenting, childhood trauma, stress, and relationship issues. She works with each client to establish an accepting, empathic and safe environment. Shelley is a member of the American Counseling Association, Oklahoma Mental Health Counseling Association, and the Oklahoma Society for Psychoanalytic Studies. Shelley and her husband have 3 adult-children and 3 grandchildren.
Tara W. Fritsch, M.A. LMFT
As a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist, Tara has received specialized training related to parenting and couple relationships and has worked extensively with individuals experiencing depression and anxiety related to life transitions. Tara has also completed an intensive training course in Postpartum Depression conducted by Karen Kleiman, coauthor of the book, "This Isn't What I Expected". Tara is passionate about working with individuals and couples during those transitional years that include decisions about getting married and having children. Specific areas of interest include postpartum issues, family planning, pregnancy loss, couples and premarital counseling, grief and loss, work/life balance, and generalized depression/anxiety.
Tara seeks to provide a safe environment for her clients to explore thoughts and feelings about both their present and their past. While it is always her initial goal to provide clients with an experience and specific tools that help to facilitate healing in the client's current life, she also considers it important to understand her clients' perspective on the journey that brings them to their present place in life. As she begins to understand a client's feelings about that journey, she hopes to offer reflections that may assist in connecting patterns and in creating new paths.
Donnie Van Curen, M.A., LMFT Candidate
Donnie Van Curen received his graduate degree in 2008 from Southern Nazarene University. He completed his clinical internship at TLCC before joining the group as a licensure candidate. In 2009 Donnie passed both the written and oral examination for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist. He is currently working on completing all required hours for licensure. Donnie also works as the Director of Corporate Human Resources for a national company based in Oklahoma City.
Donnie provides marriage workshops for all ages and numbers. He also provides marriage, family and individual therapy, including working with children and adolescents. Areas of interest include premarriage, marriage, divorce recovery, step families and their effects on children. He believes in a Christ-centered therapeutic process that offers acceptance, hope and healing (Matt. 18:20).
Donnie and his wife Heather have been married for 17 years and have two children.
Margo Smith, M.A., LPC Candidate
Margo holds a B.A. in
English Literature from the University of Central Oklahoma. In 2008,
she obtained her M.A. in Marital and Family Therapy from Southern
Nazarene University. After completing her clinical internship with Life
Counseling Center in Bethany, she has joined TLCC as a licensure
candidate.
Margo enjoys working with both men and women, encouraging
self-discovery and exploration within the context of a safe and
therapeutic relationship. Margo believes that a powerful sense of self
is necessary in order that clients may better maintain a state of
balance in their lives. Much of her work is directed at facilitating
her clients’ self efficacy and autonomy.
Margo has experience with clients who have endured or are experiencing
trauma, grief/loss, depression, anxiety, interpersonal distress and
marital issues. She enjoys working with families and couples to improve
communication and promote greater understanding within the
relationship. Margo enjoys helping clients, as individuals, couples, or
families, achieve balance and a greater sense of interpersonal
satisfaction.
Margo is a member of the Oklahoma Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association.
Jeffrey T. Johnson, M.A.M.F.T., LMFT Candidate
Jeffrey studied psychology for his undergraduate degree, graduating in 1998, and obtained his M.A. in Marital and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University in 2002. He completed his clinical internship at Deaconess at Bethany Hospital Inpatient Mental Health facility and subsequently joined the therapy staff there for the next 6 years. He has also worked at Parents' Assistance Center, helping families in crisis build life skills, and has worked with clients and their families as they recover and heal from abuse. Jeffrey joined TLCC as a marital and family licensure candidate.
Jeffrey enjoys building safe, therapeutic relationships with both men and women individually or as a couple/family, encouraging an exploration of relational functioning in the context of self-image and history of one's role within current and previous relationships. Jeffrey holds that people must first clearly be able to define themselves in a satisfying way in order to lead fully functional lives, both relationally and autonomously.
Jeffrey has experience with helping people suffering from grief and/or loss, post traumatic stress, addiction, depression, anxiety, work stress, altered mental states resulting in significant loss of function, relational stress, and marital discord. Jeffrey is available to lead therapeutic and life education groups with interests in depression recovery, boundary setting, addiction recovery, parenting skills, and anger management. Jeffrey enjoys living in the OKC metro area with Stephanie, his wife of 9 years, and their four incredible children.
Marcia Leys, M.S., LPC Candidate & LADC Candidate
Marcia began her career as a school teacher in Oklahoma and later in California. After moving back to Oklahoma, she obtained her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Southern Nazarene University with a desire to spend her remaining working years facilitating healing in the hearts of hurting individuals, couples, and families. Marcia developed a special interest in recovery from addictions and the healing of the mates and families that addiction has touched while interning at A Chance to Change. Since that time, she has done extensive study on sexual addiction and the healing process for both the addict and the partner of the addict through both individual and group therapy. She has several years experience with the group healing process for the partners of sex addicts.
Marcia also has a passion to facilitate healing for those who have been hurt and disillusioned by confusing, painful church experiences, those who are disillusioned with church in general, and those who are having a difficult time connecting with God because of disappointments, grief, or shame. Marcia sees a strong connection between emotional health and a satisfying spiritual life. She has a passion to help those struggling in this area.
Childhood trauma, PTSD, relationships issues, and issues for single adults are other areas of interest for Marcia.
Julianne Bailey M.A. LMFT Candidate
Julianne graduated from Oklahoma Christian University with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies. Upon graduating she worked in the Admissions Department for Oklahoma Christian University recruiting and counseling students and families through the college decision and enrollment process.
She went on to obtain her Masters degree from Southern Nazarene University in Marital and Family Therapy. Throughout the program she gained experience during her internship at Transforming Life Counseling Center in Edmond, and joined TLCC as a LMFT Candidate upon graduation. She has successfully completed her written and oral exams and is now working towards completion of her hours for licensure.
Julianne enjoys working with clients from all walks of life- from children or adolescents and their families, to couples and individuals. She works with her clients on topics such as depression, anxiety, grief, difficult life adjustments and relational/marital issues. She believes in the process of counseling as an avenue for growth and insight into ones life and strives to create a safe environment for clients to begin this process.
Jennifer Rankin, M.A. LMFT Candidate
Jennifer graduated from The University of Central Oklahoma with a BA in
Psychology. She is currently enrolled in the MAMFT program at Southern
Nazarene University, seeking LPC licensure upon completion. Jennifer
has a heart for serving, and has spent the past 6 years as a music
minister. She has experience working with children/families in both
individual and group settings. Jennifer has been married for 6 years,
and has two little boys ages 5 and 3.
Ryan M. Scott, Ph.D.
Ryan is currently under postdoctoral supervision to become a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Oklahoma. He recently graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oklahoma, and previously completed a Master's degree in Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Oklahoma Baptist University. Ryan has experience counseling individuals, couples, and families at the OU Health Sciences Center Student Counseling Center, OU Counseling Psychology Clinic, Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Hospital, and Moore Child Guidance Clinic. He also worked for two years managing and training volunteers for the crisis hotline at the University of Oklahoma. Ryan also enjoys assessment and has experience conducting evaluations with children and adults to assess for learning disorders and ADHD. Additionally, he has taught courses at the University of Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University in Family Psychology, Psychological Assessment, and Career Planning.
